Otis vom Zauberberg E-mail

I couldn't be more pleased with Otis. At two years, he showing his breeding in drive, intelligence, aggression and trainability. Besides, he is simply gorgeous. In the pic, he is on his throne, but doesn't get on that chair anymore because he is too big. Aside from "his" chair, Otis is an off-the-furniture dog.

Udela German Shepherd female Service dog E-mail

Hi Andreas,

Udela is doing great.  I am very, very pleased with her.  She is getting better with the cats and although she wears the collar, I rarely use anything but the reward tone.  She is very well behaved in the house and follows me around all day.  I am amazed at how well she camps out in one location without getting bored and looking for mischief.  Although she seems to have bonded to me the most, she is very attached to Drew and Bill.  When they left this morning, she wanted to go with them.

We have not started SAR training yet.  I had two phone conversations with the dog trainer that I mentioned and decided that my husband was right -- her personality was somewhat cold and offensive -- so I decided not to work with her.   If you have any suggestions on reading material or videos for SAR please let me know.

I have also been taking Udela to visit my Dad at the Retirement Home.  She is a big hit with his friends and my Dad is all smiles when he sees Udela.

Thank you so much for everything.  Udela is just what we needed - I love how sweet and mellow she is - I snapped a pic of her with Drew yesterday so I will send it to you asap.

Lori : -)

German Shepherd puppy from Zauberberg E-mail

Hi Andreas,

Attached is a better copy of the picture of me and Cheech.  He has been a great addition to the family.   He is terrific and I am really happy to have him.  I get compliments on him all the time.  People tell me he is a beautiful German Shepherd.  I am looking forward to more advanced training with him.  I can tell he works out problems and likes to think tasks through.  He seems to be a great candidate for anything from Schutzund to agility and, I have been told, he has great search and rescue potential.

Rottweiler female training E-mail

Hi, Andreas,
I decided on the way home from our lesson this week that watching you train a dog is like watching Roger Federer play a tennis match. You are at the top; you are efficient, you have great coordination and intuition, you react so well to unforseen situations, you understand the right psychology to use, you have perfect confidence. It was really wonderful to watch you with Douce. We, and Douce, have all the benefit of your knowledge and experience. We understand our good fortune!
See you next Tuesday, usual time.
Sue

Tazer vom Zauberberg E-mail

Hi Andreas,

Everybody in the family is so pleased that we now have Tazer.

She had never seen so many cars, it seems, or people. When I got to Tucson I tried to feed her in a parking lot, but she was too distracted looking at everything. I had to find a quiet place. At the airport they changed the rules once again. The guide at the counter told me the airplane's door was 50 inches tall, and he was not sure if the kennel would fit. So he got a measuring tape and it turns out the height of the kennel is about 28 inches. Problem solved. Then a policemen with all kinds of weapons arrived. He heard there was a fine German Shepherd in the lobby and he wanted to meet Tazer! So we talked a little bit. He asked me where the dog came from and I told him a place close to Douglas. Then he said he already knew about your place, but did not remember the name. He knew you raise Shepherds and Rottweiliers. And that he once met your wife at the airport, a lady with "dark hair". And other passengers in the lobby also wanted to see and pet Tazer. Tazer was a little scared, but friendly and gentle.
Tazer is very friendly with all in the family. She is very attracted to the 4 year old, but she might accidentally be a little rough, so I limited the contact. Last night she was barking just to let people know the territory is now hers. She has a very deep bark, whuch goes well with a guard dog.

This morning I was watering the trees with a hose, and she was trying to grab the water stream as if it was something solid. I would wiggle the water stream from side to side and she would chase it. That was funny.

Thanks again for Tazer, your hospitality and your patience on Saturday.

Dear Andreas,

I want to thank you again for the incredible job you did training Lucy and Kaylah. We’ve had them home. for a week now and the difference in their attitude and behavior is significant. I’d like to share two remarkable “success stories” with you; the first of which occurred on Tuesday during my weekly poker game. Every week I host between 7-9 players for three hours of loud fun. Previously, both dogs would bark at my guests, beg for food and generally be a handful which routinely interrupted our games. This
Tuesday, prior to my guests arriving, I gave both dogs the “place” command for them to stay in their beds - they did not bark or move for three hours. All of my friends were shocked at the difference in their behavior.

The second story happened yesterday and I have not had the opportunity to share it with you. During our evening walk through the neighborhood, I had both dogs off leash and heeling. This in itself is a success story; however, after removing both leashes, a cat ran onto the sidewalk in front of us and into the road. I quickly gave both dogs the “sit” command and watched both of them stop, sit and stay until I released them. It is very comforting to know that I can command both dogs regardless of the situation
we are in. The confidence that comes with knowing they will respond every time has already allowed us to put them in situations we previously could not.

Overall, they both appear to be calmer, happier and more confident dogs. Their drive to please us is incredible. Again, thank you for all of your work – it was worth every penny and more. In the future, if you ever have a client in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area who would like to see the result of your training, please do not hesitate to have them contact me.

Thank you again,

Jake Ertle
